Title: Good Cream Filling ***************************************************************** Oz and Xander were in the library, studying for finals. Buffy was supposed to be there, but she had blown it off. Willow was at some MIT-college-retreat-thingy, so they were each others Study Buddy. Xander unwrapped another Twinkie as his brain tried to make sense of the math in front of him. Suddenly, his anger swelled and he crushed the pastry in his fist, cream filling squirting everywhere. Some landed on Oz's cheek. Surprised, but unruffled, the guitarist simply said, "Hey man, whatever math issues you've got, don't annihilate the golden puff. We'll get through this," he promised, reaching up and wiping the cream filling from his face and licking it off his finger in slow, deliberate strokes. Xander watched with abject fascination, then groaned and dropped his head down on his open math book. "Don't you mumble mumble...?" he said. Oz leaned closer as Xander lifted his head. "What?" he asked, in a much gentler tone than Xander'd ever heard from him before. "I said, don't you KNOW what you do to me?" he whispered, the words a plea for Oz to simply understand....well, to understand him. "What do I do to you, Xander?" Oz asked, wanting him to know what he was asking for before he got it. The Dingo scooted his chair closer as Xander said, "You...you make my head go tingly." Then, with a bravery he hadn't know he possesed, the teen leaned forward and brushed Oz's lips with his own. It was fleeting, a fly-by-night affair, but qualified as a kiss. Xander leaned back in his chair, clearly embarrased. "Wow. That was um...." "Nice. That was nice." Oz finished for him. "Nice. Yeah, that was....wow. Should I....is this..." he shifted into the well-worn and time honored role of Babble Boy and would've gone on forever had Oz not raised a finger to his lips. "Ssh..." he said, giving Xander's lips a much better purpose as he captured them with his own, teasing Xander's mouth open slowly, before he extended his tongue to play with Xander's. But at the slight touch Xander pulled back, his face flushed. "Whoa. My world is askew. You, you, I...we, you dated Willow!" Oz took Xander's comment in stride. "Yeah, and you've got this lust thing with Cordelia. That has absolutely nothing to do with our kiss." "HAD a lust thing." Xander corrected. "I think we're pretty much through. But, you like Will, right? I mean, you guys kiss, I've seen you." "Yeah, we have. But she knows I like guys too. I even dated Devon. Once. Biggest mistake of my life." Oz felt only the slightest hint of discomfort as he told Xander stuff no one else, not even Willow knew. The musician understood that Xander was having trouble accepting his sexual orientation and wanted to help him out. "But Devon? He's like Mr-Hetero-I-keep-my-sexual-conquests-on-my-notched-bedpost kind of guy. Look how he chases Cordelia. And Buffy." Oz nodded sagely. "Larry did too, before he was comfortable in his own skin. And besides, being a minority in a town like Sunnydale is not the best of ideas, even on a good day." Xander was dumbfounded. "Does anyone else know? That you're...." he stumbled over the unfamiliar term. "Bisexual?" Oz nodded and ticked off the names. "Willow, Devon, Larry, Giles, and you." Xander started. "Giles knows? Ohmigod. My world is..." "Askew?" Oz said with a wry grin. "That too." A blanket of silence settled over the library as the teens fell into private thoughts. Out of the corner of his eye, Oz saw Xander run a hand over his thick brown hair and sigh. His fingers itched to bury themselves in its softness, but he restrained himself. Xander needed to feel comfortable with himself and his sexuality before anything more happened. Shaking his head, he turned back to his book and started memorizing quadratic equations. Several minutes passed before either spoke. When the silence was broken, it was by plastic crinkling, and Xander asking, "Twinkie?" Oz accepted, biting the top off. When he'd chewed and swallowed, he only gave Xander a wink and said, "Good cream filling." They laughed, and the tension was broken, at least for now. They needed to get through finals, and maybe then they could explore this new...thing between them. ~~~~~~ The End. |
